ABOUT THE ARTIST
Who is Bryant Edward Stafford? Well I'm a person who loves
taking photographs and working on computers. I've been into
both these fields as far back as High School. I went to
Central Islip High School where I started getting into computers
by taking several computer language classes, such as Basic,
Fortran, and COBOL. At the same time in my life when there
was any type of family event I seemed to be always assigned
to the task of taking the family pictures. Then as a gift
for getting into college, NY Tech, I was given my first
camera, an Olympus OM-1, by my grandmother. In college I
majored in Communications Arts & Photography, and minored
in Computer Science. Little did I know at that time that
my two loves would come together as one. In 1980 after finishing
college one of my first jobs was working in a small Manhattan
Studio doing school kids Portraits, and the next was working
for NBC doing computerized inventory of all Video equipment.
That didn't last long when I joined the NYC Department of
Corrections where for about two years I was assigned to
the Academy's Video/Photo Unit. There I would take video
and photos for any type of department event. Then in about
1985 I got my first PC, a Leading Edge PC with a super large
10 mb hard drive, which got me hooked into the world of
the PC (yes, at one point I did have a Commodore 64, but
we'll skip that part). But what really drove me into the
PC world was something that took place about 1990. I had
a system built for me by a computer store in Brooklyn, NY,
and the hard drive went on it. Now fighting the Belt Parkway
traffic is one thing, but to drop it off and have to come
back to get was not in the cards. So I asked the owner to
just tell me what to do to it while he worked on other systems.
Seeing how well I picked up repairing computers he hired
me after I left The Correction Department in 1995 (Mind
you this is the short version of the story). Which bring
me to today's computer world. After working for him for
about 5 years I took and passed the tests for my MCSE, MCP+I,
and CNA in 5.1.
I've built computer systems and networks from the ground
up. Computer Networking is something I've been doing as
far back as Lantastic. Which at the time was the poor man's
Novell. I've been a Network Administrator for a network
as big as 116+ servers, 16 Exchange server, 15,000+ workstations,
and 30,000+ users while working at the NYCHA. I've worked
at a 1400 unit server farm at JP Morgan Chase, and can troubleshoot
all types of networks problems. I keep abreast of the IT
field by having my own network setup at home which includes
two 2003 servers, 3 Workstations, and one Power Book. Four
of these systems I built myself. I also run and host my
own Exchange 2003 Server, FTP Server, and Web Servers. If
you're viewing this page you're on my server now. I've currently
have about 6 companies where I'm their sole network support
on a as need basic, and several home users who I support
remotely with PC anywhere or Dame Ware. I've taught Windows
2000 Professional, 2000 Server, Migration from NT 4.0 to
2000, Novell 5.1, A+, and Network+ at Computer Career Center.
I've also taught A+ at Queens Community College at night.
In total I've been working with computers for more then
30 years going back to High School.
Basically my photography path runs along side my computer
path. I've always loved taking pictures, and have always
done so in my free time. While in the Corrections Department
I've done several Wedding for some of the Top Bass there.
I've also done Weddings for close friends and family. Then
one day while out taking pictures at The Planting Fields
I ran into one of the owner's of Creative Compositions.
Ernie, an owner, and an assistant were taking pictures of
a couple's up coming wedding. I asked him if they needed
another photographer at the studio. Which at the time they
didn't, but with a little luck on my side they had a computer
problem that needed to be fixed. And that where our relationship
started. With everyone going to digital these days, they
also have become more dependent on their computers. This
makes me more valuable then your regular photographer. So
we now have a win win relationship. My two loves together
at last, Digital Photography & Computers system and
networking. In total I've been doing photography for more
the 30 years also, starting back in High School.
The words I said to most clients of mine when it comes
to fixing any computer related problem. "If I can't
fix it, throw it away." In my experience this has happened
only once. And it was DOA.
Enjoy my site, and call me if you have a computer related
problem or need some pictures taken.
Thank You
